Your bump

Adding fat. Your baby is adding fat, developing the brain and is moving and stretching. There is still room for your baby to try out different positions. And with each passing week it is more likely that everything will turn out fine if there is a premature birth. That’s such a relief.

Vericose veins. You may find that you get constipated more easily again. It’s because your intestines aren't functioning as effectively as normal due to hormones and that they have less space to function in. Moreover, the growing uterus presses against the major blood vessels and can cause varicose veins. Here is some advice: wear medical support stockings, loose clothes and flat shoes. Do not cross your legs. Lie on your side or elevate your legs when possible. Varicose veins run in the family so take a look at your mum’s legs. This will give you an idea of the importance of support stockings.

Keeping me awake

If it feels a little restless in your tummy, as if your baby cannot settle, try to take a few calming breaths and relax. Talk quietly, stroke over the stomach and touch it softly, that will help most children settle down again. Just like after birth.
